The protest in Nilin against the builing of the Wall gathered around 100 people, mainly Palestinians from the village on 1 July 2008. The protestors managed to block the bulldozers, stop the work and damaged them with stones. The Israeli guards fired above the crowd and one of the Israeli drivers threw stones at photographers. The demonstration then continued in another location. The Israeli soldiers used scores of tear gas and triggered a fire which spread and destroyed many trees.
