Ahmad, 17 year-old, was shot while working in the buffer zone on 13 October. He was collecting building gravel. He was together with his cousin and brother, and they were around 600 meters away from the Green Line. There was no warning shots. His bones were smashed, and he might need some artificial device.

Ahmad left school when he was 15 year old, Collecting building gravel was the only job he could find: "We are 17 in my family and I have to support them", Ahmad said.
He made between 6 to 8 dollars a day.
He also added than once he will recover, he will have certainly no choice but going back there. His family lives on the outskirts of the Bedouin village of North Gaza with a direct view on the Wall which lies just a few kilometers away. They came in this area after their house in Beit Hanoun was demolished during an Israeli military operation in 2006. His father, Tawfic, is worried about his family. He said that the area is very dangerous with a lot of shootings around. And indeed, during the interview we could hear many shootings and shellings.

According to a UN study, between January 2009 and August 2010, at least 22 Palestinian civilians in Gaza have been killed and 146 injured in the arbitrary live fire zone adjacent to the border with Israel and imposed at sea. Between 22 May and 14 October 2010, DCI-Palestine documented 12 cases of children shot whilst collecting building gravel near the border fence between Gaza Strip and Israel.

Ahmad does not know why he was shot. They used to go to this area, and it is beyond the 300 meters that the Israeli declared as the limit for Palestinians. Do we have also to specify that the Israelis have all the high tech devices to perfectly see and identify their targets?

-------FRANCAIS----------
