This morning there was an action protesting the European migration policies in front of the Belgian Office for Foreigners which was sprayed with red paint, Brussels, Belgium, October 18, 2013. The entrance was blocked by activists lying on the ground. 6 activists were arrested and one photographer was taken to the police station. Police pushes back protesters.

Hundreds of Afghan asylum seekers participated to the protest. They carried the mock coffin with pictures of the victims of the migrants who drowned in the Lampedusa shipwreck, and a picture of Aref, an Afghan who was shot dead a few days ago in the region of Kaboul. Aref, a 22 year old; was living in Belgium but was forced in 2013 to go back to Afghanistan after his demand for asylum was rejected four times. He claimed his life was in danger. 

The provisional death toll from an October 3 shipwreck off the Lampedusa Italian island is of 359. Only 155 of the about 545 migrants aboard the vessel, mainly from Eritrea, survived the disaster, the worst immigration tragedy for Italy in more than a decade.

According to the organization UNITED  which has been monitoring the deadly results of the building of 'Fortress Europe' by making a list of the refugees and migrants, who have died in their attempt of entering Europe' or as a result of Europe's immigration policies,  more than 17.306 deaths have been documented up since 1993.

Ce matin, une action était organisé devant l'Office belge des étrangers pour protester contre les politiques migratoires européennes à Bruxelles, Belgique, le 18 Octobre 2013. L'entrée du batiment a bloquée par des militants couchés sur le sol et a été aspergée de peinture rouge. 6 militants ont été arrêtés et un photographe ont été emmenés au poste de police. La police repousse les manifestants .

Des centaines de demandeurs d'asile afghans participait à la manifestation. Ils ont porté un cercueil symbolique avec des photos des victimes des migrants qui se sont noyés dans le naufrage de Lampedusa , et une photo de Aref, un Afghan de 22 ans qui a été abattu il y a quelques jours dans la région de Kaboul  Aref vivait en Belgique, mais a été contraint en 2013 de retourner en Afghanistan après que sa demande d'asile ait été rejetée quatre fois. Il avait pourtant expliqué que sa vie était en danger.

Le nombre de morts provisoire du naufrage du 3 Octobre au large de l'île italienne de Lampedusa est de 359. Seulement 155 des quelque 545 migrants à bord du navire, principalement de l'Erythrée, ont survécu à la catastrophe, la pire tragédie de l'immigration pour l'Italie depuis plus d'une décennie.

Selon l'organisation UNITED qui fait des recherches les résultats mortels de la construction de la «Forteresse Europe» en compilant une liste des réfugiés et des migrants , qui sont morts dans leur tentative d'entrer dans  "l'Europe forteresse » ou en conséquence de la politique d'immigration de l'Europe , plus de 17.306 décès ont été documentés depuis 1993. .
